Six happy campers

Don't you just hate it when your glasses slip down your nose. . . and you can't do anything about it because you're too young to get contact lenses? Well, don't let it stop you from participating in whatever you want at summer camp!

Glasses didn't stop baseball's "Mr. October," Reggie Jackson, from hitting five home runs (three in one game!) in the 1977 World Series. . .or Billie Jean King or Martina Navritalova from playing tennis. . .or Bob Griese who played quarterback for football's Miami Dolphins. . .or Hale Irwin from winning golf's U.S. Open three times! They head a long list of professional athletes who have worn glasses while competing. Basketball greats like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James also wear glasses!

Of course, many people wear contact lenses or have had eye surgery. In fact, Brad Pitt, Elton John and Tiger Woods have had surgery to correct their vision! In the meantime, wear whatever protective devices you, your parents, coach, and doctor agree will be best for you--and practice, practice, practice!

A Breath Of Fresh Air. . .

Don't let your asthma get you down at summer camp. Did you know Olympic gold medalists Jackie Joyner-Kersee (track and field), Greg Louganis (diving), and Bill Koch (cross country skiing) all suffer from asthma, too? So the next time you complain about having to go to the infirmary for a nebulizer treatment or you have to stop what you're doing to take a puff on your inhaler, think gold and remember--you're in good company! Using dental braces, this is for you.
